By Ludwigs Corner Fire Company
August 13, 2023

At 6:44 a.m., LCFC, along with Glen Moore Fire Company, Lionville Fire Company, and Uwchlan Ambulance were dispatched to the unit block of East Indian Springs Drive in Upper Uwchlan Township for a reported residential fire. Initial reports from the caller stated there was smoke pouring from the top of an attached garage.

Officers from Upper Uwchlan PD arrived on scene first and reported a working fire in the residence. Chief 73 was the first arriving fire officer on scene and confirmed the reports of a working house fire. Chief 73 requested the working fire dispatch and for additional units to make up the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT). This added East Brandywine Fire Company, Minquas Fire Company for the Air Truck, a MICU from Uwchlan Ambulance, Chester County Fire Marshals, and PECO.

Engine 73-2 was the first arriving engine, followed closely by Engine 48-5, Tower 47, and Engine 73-1. The crews worked to stretch multiple handlines to the alpha and bravo side of the house to begin fire attack on a working basement fire. After forcing entry, crews found the fire had a head start on them and had completely burned through the 1st floor all the way up into the second floor. The fire was able to quickly be brought under control with extensive overhaul. The firefighters remained on scene for approximately four hours before returning to quarters.

Fortunately, nobody was injured in this blaze but our thoughts go out to the family impacted by the fire.

We would like to thank Kimberton Fire Company for covering our local and running one fire alarm while we operated at the house fire. Also, a special thank you goes out to the Wawa in Ludwigs Corner for their generous donation of breakfast sandwiches and coffee for the responders on scene. We greatly appreciate your generosity and continued support of local first responders.

Units: Chief 73, Engine 73-1, Engine 73-2, Rescue 73

Mutual Aid: Lionville Fire Company, Glen Moore Fire Company, East Brandywine Fire Company, Uwchlan Ambulance, Chester County Fire Marshals
