Right around 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening, strong storms rolled through Chester County and kept LCFC volunteers busy through the evening hours. The first call for service came in at 5:03 p.m. as an automatic fire alarm in the 200 block of Windgate Drive. Further information was received by Chester County 911 Dispatch and the call was upgraded to an investigation inside. The reporting party believed the building had been struck by lightning. The crew from LCFC checked the building and determined that all conditions were normal.
Just as the crew was returning to the station from that call, LCFC was alerted for Engine 73-5 to assist Kimberton Fire Company on a building fire on the 2300 block of Kimberton Road in East Pikeland Township. Crews from Kimberton Fire Company arrived to find smoke showing from the eaves and active fire in the attic. At this time, the working fire dispatch was requested, bringing additional resources to the scene. While making the response, Engine 73-5 had to detour multiple times due to road closures from trees and wires down. Engine 73-5 was released and returned the local shortly after arriving on-scene.
All while Engine 73-5 was responding to the builidng fire in East Pikeland, LCFC was dispatched for a public service call in Upper Uwchlan Township for a tree into a house. Additionally, LCFC was dispatched to assist Glen Moore Fire Company on a kitchen fire on the 1900 block of Creek Road in Wallace Township. Engine 73-1 responded at dispatch and was recalled while responding as Glen Moore was already on scene from a previous incident and was able to quickly mitigate the kitchen fire.
Over the course of the next two hours, LCFC handled 5 additional calls for service, including trees and wires calls, structure investigations, an automatic fire alarm and one medical call.
All in all, over the course of three hours, LCFC responded to 4 incidents in Upper Uwchlan Township, 3 incidents in West Vincent Township, 1 incident in East Pikeland Township, and 1 incident in Wallace Township.
A special thank you to the crew from Glen Moore Fire Company for assisting with assessing the damage caused in Upper Uwchlan Township. |
