On Friday evening, at 7:12 p.m., LCFC and Ambulance 051 (East Whiteland) were dispatched to a building in Weatherstone Stone Center for an elevator malfunction. Chief 73 responded and was advised of one occupant stuck in the elevator on the 2nd floor. QRS 73 and Chief 73 arrived on scene and confirmed the report. Upon arrival of Engine 73-1, the personnel on scene utilized the elevator keys to work to open the elevator door to access the occupant. The crew was able to access the manual door control from the 3rd floor and opened the door on the second floor. Although the elevator was partially stuck between floors, the occupant was able to safely exit the elevator and all personnel cleared the scene.
Later that evening at 10:25 p.m., LCFC along with mutual aid companies (East Whiteland, Glen Moore, Kimberton, Lionville, Ridge, and Uwchlan Ambulance) were dispatched to the unit block of Saint Anthony Lane in West Vincent Township for a house fire. The initial caller reported a haze in the house and the walls felt hot. Chief 73 arrived on scene followed shortly after by Battalion 47. The first arriving chiefs discovered a fire in the exterior wall of an attached garage. Chief 73 established Saint Anthony Command. Squad 5 arrived on scene first with Engine 73-1 closely behind. These crews went to work using hand tools to open up the wall and utilized the booster line from Squad 5 to extinguish any hot spots. The assignment was quickly scaled back and many units went available before even arriving on scene. Crews remained on scene until approximately 11:15 p.m. when Command was terminated and all units went available. Fortunately, the damage to this house was very minimal compared to what could have happened if this fire wasn’t detected early.
