In the midst of the storms rolling through the area Saturday night, LCFC and mutual aid companies (East Brandywine, East Whiteland, Glen Moore, Lionville, and Uwchlan Ambulance) were dispatched to the 100 block of Hoffman Circle in Upper Uwchlan Township for a reported barn fire. The initial caller reported hearing an explosion and reported a 200' x 200' storage building on fire.
Chief 73 went enroute and was advised by the County dispatch center that they had received multiple calls on this fire. Chief 73 upgraded this to a working building fire, which added MIC46-2, County Fire Marshals, and PECO. Upper Uwchlan Police Department arrived on scene and reported the building was fully involved with fire through the roof. Chief 73 arrived on scene shortly thereafter, confirmed the report, and established Hoffman Circle Command. While the initial report was a 200' x 200' barn, the building on fire was actually closer to a 20' x 40' garage/storage building.
Engine 48-5 arrived as first due engine just ahead of Engine 73-1. Engine 48-5 laid 400' of 5" supply line from a nearby hydrant up to the scene and led off fire attack with a 2.5" line. The crew from Engine 73-1 pulled two additional 1.75" lines from Engine 48-5 and went to work with fire suppression. The crews were able to get the fire knocked down and limited the damage to an exposure building. Once the fire was placed under control, the crews from multiple companies wet down hotspots and performed overhaul. At this time, crews began to be released from the scene with the final units from LCFC and Glen Moore clearing around 11:30 p.m. Crews operated on scene for just over two hours.
Thank you to Ridge Fire Company for standing by at our station and covering our local while we were tied up at this incident.
