At 9:14 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, LCFC along with Station 48 (Glen Moore Fire Company) and Station 47 (Lionville Fire Company) were alerted to the unit block of Saint Andrew’s Lane in West Vincent Township for smoke in a dwelling. Initial reports indicated that the house was filling with smoke and the alarms in the attic were sounding.
Assistant 47 arrived on-scene and advised of a chimney fire with possible extension. Chief 73 arrived shortly thereafter and assumed command. Engine 47-2 and Engine 73-2 arrived simultaneously and prepared for an interior attack. As crews were about to make entry, they were advised that the handline was not needed. Crews from 73, 47, and 48 then worked to clear the chimney box and checked for extension, but the fire was contained and fortunately there was not any extension. Crews operated for just under one hour before clearing.
