| Road conditions were slick on Friday night and Saturday morning due to the winter storm that rolled through our area. The slick road conditions contributed to four automobile accidents that LCFC was dispatched to in a 24 hour period. The first accident was dispatched at 5:22 p.m. on Friday evening. LCFC was alerted for a one vehicle accident near the intersection of Birchrun Road and Westover Lane. Crews arrived on scene to find one vehicle overturned in the roadway, blocking traffic. Fortunately the driver of the vehicle was able to self-extricate. Chief 73, Deputy 73, QRS 73, Rescue 73, and Traffic 73 all made the response. Crews remained on scene for approximately one hour until the roadway was re-opened. Later that evening at 8:10 p.m., LCFC was dispatched to the 3500 block of Conestoga Road for a single vehicle accident. Chief 73 arrived on-scene to find one vehicle off the roadway into a tree. Our QRS personnel arrived on-scene and assisted with patient care while the crew from Rescue 73 and Traffic 73 kept the roadway closed until the car could be towed from the scene. Crews remained on-scene for approximately 90 minutes before returning to the station. A short time later, at 10:46 p.m., LCFC was again dispatched for a single vehicle accident. This time, the call came in for an accident with possible entrapment in the 2200 block of Eagle Farms Road. West Vincent PD arrived on-scene a short time after dispatch and alerted county that the driver had self-extricated and there were not any injuries. With this information, Chief 73 recalled the assignment and the company went available. Finally, just after 12:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, LCFC was dispatched to the intersection of Conestoga Road and Carriage Lane for an automobile accident. One vehicle lost control and left the roadway, ending up on a large rock. Chief 73, QRS 73, and Rescue 73 all made the response. Crews assisted with traffic control until the vehicle could be towed from the scene. Crews operated on-scene for approximately 45 minutes before clearing. |
