| Just after 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, LCFC was dispatched for a full company assist to the Twin Valley Fire Department for a shed fire in the 4100 block of East Nantmeal Township. Units from Glen Moore Fire Company, Lionville Fire Company, Geigertown Fire Company, and Elverson-Honey Brook Area EMS were also included on the initial dispatch. Early reports indicated that a 100-by-100-foot shed used to store equipment was on fire.
The ambulance from Elverson-Honey Brook Area EMS arrived first and confirmed visible fire from the structure. Based on this report, along with the smoke column visible from the surrounding area, Chief 69 upgraded the incident to a working fire and requested three additional tankers due to the lack of hydrants in the area.
The working fire dispatch also added a medic unit from TowerDirect, Chester County Fire Marshals, and an air unit from Downingtown Fire Department. The additional tanker request brought units from Honey Brook Fire Company, East Brandywine Fire Company, Lionville Fire Company, and an engine from Birdsboro-Union Fire Department.
Engine 69-1 arrived first and initiated fire suppression operations with assistance from Deputy 73. Engines 73-5 and 73-2 arrived shortly afterward. Engine 73-5 laid a supply line from Conestoga Road up the long driveway, with Engine 69-5 continuing the lay into the scene to establish a reliable water supply. In total, more than 1,000 feet of five-inch supply hose was deployed.
Crews deployed multiple handlines from Engine 69-1 and the crew from Engine 73-2 and 73-5 assisted with fire suppression efforts. Firefighters quickly brought the bulk of the fire under control. A porta tank was deployed at the end of the driveway, while a fill site was set up on Ironstone Lane to support water shuttle operations. Chief 48 managed water supply operations while Deputy 69 held the Conestoga Road Command.
Crews remained on scene until just before 6:00 p.m., completing overhaul operations and repacking hose before returning to service. Twelve LCFC members responded to the incident, representing an excellent daytime turnout for a Tuesday afternoon.
