At approximately 11:20 a.m., LCFC Volunteers and Elverson-Honey Brook Area EMS were dispatched to the 1400 block of Warwick Furnace Road for an auto accident. Chief 73 and QRS 73 were enroute shortly after dispatch and were advised by County of a one-vehicle accident with the vehicle off the roadway, over an embankment, and the patient was still in the vehicle.
QRS 73 arrived first and confirmed the report of one vehicle off the roadway. Shortly thereafter, Chief 73 arrived and assumed Warwick Furnace Command. Due to the location of the vehicle over the embankment, the patient would not be able to be removed until the vehicle was stabilized by the crew from Rescue 73. Upon arrival of Rescue 73, the crew utilized the winch on the Rescue to stabilize the vehicle and allow LCFC's Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to access the patient.
The crew from LCFC worked together with the providers from Elverson-Honey Brook Area EMS and devised a plan to safely remove the patient from the vehicle. Utilizing the Reeves Stretcher that is carried on Rescue 73, the crew was able to safely remove the patient through the passenger side door and then worked to remove the patient from the wooded area and transferred care to EMS.
Chief 73 terminated command less than one hour after dispatch and the crews returned to the station. |
